Position Title Coordinator, Career Advising, Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra / Northwell Position Number 897162 Position Category Administration School / Division School of Medicine Department Full-Time or Part-Time Full-Time Description Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Advising, the Coordinator for Career Advising is responsible for coordinating and enhancing clinical education and career development initiatives at the Zucker School of Medicine to support students’ successful transition into medical careers. The Coordinator of Career Advising also provides administrative support to the Assistant Dean for Advising, the Associate Dean for Clinical Education and Career Development, and the Office of the Dean. This position requires the use of independent judgment in planning, prioritizing a diversified workload, and exercising discretion in regular communications with students, faculty, physicians, and administrators at Hofstra University, the School of Medicine, Northwell Health System, and external partners.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Provides high-level administrative support to the Assistant Dean for Advising and Associate Dean for Clinical Education and Career Development.
- Coordinates the review and development of clinical experiences and new curricular pathways to enhance educational outcomes.
- Supports the integration and preparation of diverse clinical initiatives, strategies for the Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) process, scholarly concentrations, and certificate programs into the curriculum for a cohesive educational framework.
- Plans and implements career development programs and activities, including Match Week and residency application processes.
- Collaborates with the career advising team to design data-driven career guidance programs tailored to student needs.
- Develops and maintains career advising resources, digital content, and assessment tools to enhance program effectiveness.
- Acts as a liaison between students, advisors, faculty, and external partners, fostering alignment and clear communication.
- Organizes and facilitates meetings, workshops, and initiatives to gather feedback and promote program improvements.
- Collects and analyzes data to assess the effectiveness of clinical education and career advising initiatives.
- Prepares presentations and reports to inform stakeholders of outcomes and recommendations for improvements.
- Supports with the development and tracking of expenses.
- Triages requests of faculty members, staff members, students, and outside visitors.
- Collaborates with other administrative staff members to cover absences, provide relief to equalize peak work periods, or otherwise balance the workload within the department.
- Engages in professional development activities to remain current with advancements in medical education and technology.
- Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.
