JOB SUMMARY:
Hog Slat, Inc., is seeking a highly motivated Buyer with purchasing experience to join our Clinton, NC team. We encourage creativity, great ideas and the newest technology for our Agriculture customers that we service in the US and Globally. Hog Slat, Inc. is the largest construction contractor and manufacturer of hog production equipment in the United States with approximately 1,000 people directly employed and an additional 1,400 subcontractors working on the company's construction projects. Hog Slat, Georgia Poultry Equipment, Eastern Shore Poultry Services and Shenandoah AG Supply have constructed turnkey production units for both family-owned farms and large corporate farm entities in the United States, and also sell equipment packages to customers who choose to construct their own facilities, both domestically and internationally. In addition to our construction services, we maintain a network of over 95 retail store locations distributed throughout the US to supply local pork and poultry growers with a complete selection of parts and equipment needed to support their operations.

- Select products and negotiates buying terms with vendors, including price, margin, exclusivity and delivery terms
- Attend buyer meetings
- Oversee order placement and delivery
- Write product line and product knowledge sheets
- Set the open-to-buy plan to make inventory decisions
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify growth opportunities
- Meet with store associates and the customer relationship management team to get feedback
- Prepares daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly selling reports to analyze performance and make improvements
- Partners with marketing, sales, retail and others merchandising team members to optimize sales
- Travel is required to qualify vendors 30% but can vary
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Know how to use popular merchandise planning software
- Understand retail math and have strong analytical skills
- Communicate effectively and have exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Work well independently and with a team
- Build strong relationships with colleagues and vendors
- Learn new skills quickly
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

- Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising Management, Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related degree is required
- 3 years of experience as a buyer
- Sense of urgency in completing tasks

- Based out of our Clinton, NC Facility
- 8:00 A.M.- 5:00 P.M.
