Job Summary
Hog Slat, Inc., the world's largest provider of equipment and turnkey facilities to the swine and poultry industries, is seeking an IT Applications Support Specialist to join our team in Newton Grove, NC. This position is responsible for supporting various applications, including legacy applications, modification of Windows based applications, and development of web applications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other functions may be assigned as business conditions change.
- Support various applications including functionality, processes, application improvements, and modifications.
- Assist with installing and upgrading applications on end user PCs and servers.
- Assist end users with issues related to using applications and their functionality.
- Work with end users to identify bugs and resolve them.
- Assist in maintaining ERP solutions including in/out-processing, adjustment of security rights, troubleshooting application and data issues, and developing integrations.
- Work with end users and other IT department members to identify data sources, troubleshoot access to data, and flatten data into easily used datasets, and perform data interventions.
- Work with key stakeholders to properly develop specifications for modifications and new development projects.
- Manage source code in file structures and code repositories.
- Update source code to work with modern versions of development tools and platforms.
- Convert existing applications to new languages and new data sources.
- In Microsoft SQL Server, query data, create stored procedures, create and manage SQL agent jobs, and resolve issues related to the previously mentioned tasks.
- Develop and modify reports for ERP systems.
- Serve as a point of escalation for the helpdesk team.
- Work with project teams to resolve complex issues and implement new solutions.
- Design, implement, and document end-to-end technical solutions.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or a similar field of study, and 3 years of experience in application development.
- Additional experience may be accepted in lieu of formal education.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS REQUIRED:
- In-depth knowledge of a wide range of technologies including but not limited to Microsoft Access, ERP applications, Azure Synapse Studio, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft SQL Server, IIS, and eCommerce solutions.
- System integration experience including JSON, ETL, and development utilizing APIs.
- Familiar with C#, JavaScript, HTML, Visual Basic, VB.NET, and SQL.
- Experienced with relational databases.
- Reporting experience in SSRS, Power BI, or other reporting/BI solutions.
- Experience with Power Apps development and support.
- Experience with automation and workflows.
- Helpdesk or systems administration experience a plus.
- Capable of identifying and resolving issues with minimal support.
- Ability to manage tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Understand IS policies and procedures and communicate these to the user community.
- Strong commitment to customer service with good interpersonal communication, presentation, problem solving, and analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Strong team player.
