Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of our Marshalltown facility. The Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in managing all aspects of our service department, parts department, personnel supervision, safety compliance, and customer relations.

Key Responsibilities:

Management:

Candidate will run an efficient and profitable service department through productive staffing, customer retention, cost controls, achievement of objectives and maintenance of all service records. Ensures that the daily inventory of technicians’ time is consistently sold to service customers.

Forecasts goals and objectives for the department and strives to meet them.

Hires, trains, motivates, counsels and monitors the performance of all location staff.

Maintains reporting systems required by general management and the factory.

Monitor inventory levels of parts and supplies, and establish relationships with suppliers to ensure timely procurement.

Holds weekly department meetings.

Understands and ensures compliance with manufacturer warranty and policy procedures.

Accounts for all documents; ensures that none are missing and all are processed correctly.

Directs and schedules the activities of all department employees.

Personnel Supervision:

Lead, motivate, and supervise a dynamic team of mechanics and administrative staff to achieve operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and identify training needs to enhance employee skills and productivity.

Foster a positive work environment characterized by teamwork, communication, and accountability.

Safety Compliance:

Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations governing the operation of school buses and transportation services.

Implement safety protocols and procedures to minimize risks and promote a culture of safety among employees and passengers.

Customer Relations:

Build and maintain strong relationships with school districts, transportation coordinators, and other retail service customers to understand their needs and expectations.

Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a prompt and professional manner, striving to exceed their expectations.

Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to identify opportunities for business growth and expansion.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business administration, transportation management, or a related field preferred.

Proven experience in operations management, preferably in the transportation or logistics industry.

Strong leadership abilities with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve performance goals.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements related to school bus transportation.

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with customers, employees, and external partners.

Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office and transportation management software.

Two to four years related experience and/or training preferable; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associate degree in diesel technology helpful.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
