The Project Engineer-Quality and Safety collaborates with the Project Team and Field Management to deliver a safe, high-quality project. They assist the Project Manager with project documentation and control, job cost accounting, scheduling, HSE, construction supervision efforts while fostering a strong relationship with the all project stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of construction and demonstrate a strong willingness to learn. To be successful, this candidate should feel comfortable taking on many tasks that require various skills and appropriately prioritizing those tasks and completion.

The Project Engineer shall ensure that construction projects adhere to established quality standards and safety regulations by monitoring work practices, inspecting materials, identifying potential hazards, and implementing corrective actions to prevent accidents and maintain project integrity throughout the construction process. Reports to: Field Project Manager or Project Executive

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  •  Develop a comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of the contract documents (including contracts, plans, specifications and applicable codes).
  •  Ensure strict adherence to safety, ethics and compliance requirements at all times.
  •  Conducting quality audits to assess compliance with specifications and standards
  •  Designing and implementing quality control procedures
  •  Identifying and resolving quality issues through root cause analysis
  •  Monitoring compliance with safety regulations and company safety policies
  •  Knowledge of quality management systems (QMS) and safety standards (e.g., ISO 9001, OSHA)
  •  Reviewing construction plans and specifications to identify potential quality issues
  •  Performing inspections of materials, workmanship, and completed work to verify compliance with project requirements  Conduct thorough construction document reviews and examine all documents for constructability and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC). Bring all concerns to the attention of the appropriate project leadership for resolution.
  •  Participate in preparation of various studies, recommendations for materials and methods, and cost estimates.
  •  Manage the general contractor change order process including review of contractor estimates, negotiate change orders, obtain required owner approvals and preparation of contract change orders.
  •  Manage project close-out, including securing warranties, guarantees, and acceptance of work, subcontract and vendor close, final payment and records retention.
  •  Participate in client/contractor meetings to resolve project issues. Propose solutions to help meet deadlines and monitor related job costs.
  •  Assist in the preparation of monthly progress reports to senior management.
  •  Review general contractor’s project schedule and keep track of progress including project updates, delay analysis, mitigation and recovery plans, etc.
  •  Review and maintain HSE management plans including record keeping and mitigation measures.
  •  Participate in site meetings with contractors and suppliers and provide output to project management.
  •  Oversee the procurement and management of project materials
  •  Coordinate project scope and schedule with all stakeholders, including contractors, suppliers and vendors
  •  Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the project schedule
  •  Prepare and submit project documentation in a timely manner
  •  Collaborate with the project team to develop construction strategies that optimize efficiency
  •  Create 30-and-60 day labor and equipment schedules to align resources across multiple projects


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Bachelor Degree plus minimum of 3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and cost control procedures.
  • Knowledge of estimating, construction costs, HSE, scheduling, purchasing, and engineering principles and techniques, various building systems.
  • Strong computer skills and a familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite of programs.
  • Ability to implement leading-edge technologies such as Building Information Models (BIM) and Lean to benefit the project.
  • Demonstrated ability to thoroughly understand drawings and specifications, general contract and subcontract documents, materials, means and methods.
  • Very strong oral and written communication skills required.
