Hole 'N The Rock is a most unique home, carved out of Entrada sandstone in Utah’s Canyonlands Country. Visitors from all over the world visit our famous roadside attraction to take a guided tour of the historic 5,000 square foot home, commemorate their visit with unique souvenirs and memorabilia from the gift shop, marvel at handmade pottery, jewelry, and unique gifts from the Trading Post, enjoy refreshments and load up on convenience items from the General Store, and feed our array of friendly animals in the Petting Zoo. Hole 'N The Rock provides a one-of-a-kind guest experience!
We are seeking a responsible, teamwork-oriented professional with a passion for animals to care for all aspects of our Petting Zoo. This position reports to the Zookeeper and General Store Manager. You must be self-motivated, proactive, and sincerely enjoy interacting with patrons, helping to create memories and enthusiastic supporters of our business. Reliability is paramount, as well as excellent communication skills, organization, and time management. Other skills, capabilities, and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ability to work outdoors, including in cold/hot weather conditions seasonally
- Ability to handle day-to-day physical requirements of the position, including the ability to push, pull, and lift 50 pounds for periods of time as needed
- Ability to maintain, repair, and find solutions for issues that may arise unexpectedly
- You must ensure cleanliness and optimal physical appearance of the facility, including upkeep of public restrooms, removal of trash, debris, and animal waste
- You must have an excellent sense of awareness as it relates to the animals, including the ability to read body language, appropriate rationing of food to maintain excellent health, detection of symptoms of illness, safety issues, ect
- Regular scheduling of veterinary care, and administration of medicine and supplemental nutrition, including by injection as needed
- Ability to keep appropriate records, as required by USDA guidelines
- You must have reliable transportation (reimbursement will apply) in order to pick up feed and supplies as needed in Moab
- You must be willing to support other areas of the facility and operation, including light landscaping, ice & snow mitigation, filling in to cover breaks at cashier stations, ect
