What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Coordinator position at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Newberry, SC?
The Sales Coordinator reports to the General Manager to plan, manage and execute the overall sales and marketing of the hotel to achieve optimal occupancy, ADR, revenue, and RevPar, while meeting/exceeding hotel profit objectives.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, growing existing accounts and soliciting new business to ensure revenues meet or exceed budget goals.
1. Develop and continually develop relationships to provide optimal returns through corporate and leisure business, travel agents, tour groups, community organizations, SMERF business, media, etc.
2. Prepare, analyze and review forecasts, statements and reports to determine if the plans and programs are producing the optimal amount of revenue. Actively solicit potential business via phone, electronic distribution, and in person with organizations, businesses, professional market segments, travel agents, consortiums, and the local community. Ensure hotels sales leads are completed in a timely manner.
3. Survey, review and analyze competition, market trends, STAR Reports, Market Vision Reports, along with customer needs and comments in order to enhance current sales plans and develop new plans and programs.
4. Develop, recommend, implement, and manage the sales plans and programs for the hotel to maximize rate, occupancy and food and beverage opportunities, thereby ensuring the hotel meets or exceeds management and owner revenue/profit goals and expectations.
5. Train all members of the hotel staff on how to recognize and capitalize on all sales opportunities to increase hotel occupancy and revenue.
6. Conduct property tours for existing and potential clients.
7. Maintain adequate inventory of sales collateral.
8. Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
· Four-year college degree or equivalent education/experience preferred.
· Only applicants with previous sales experience in the hospitality industry will be considered.
· Demonstrated applied knowledge of the principles and practices within the sales/marketing/hospitality profession. This includes experiential knowledge required for management of people, complex problems, and efficient sales activities.
· Demonstrated ability to develop, modify and execute a sales and marketing plan to enhance revenue.
· Ability to make decisions within the standards of the position, which can impact more than one department.
· Experience in studying, analyzing and interpreting complex information or activities in order to improve current practices or develop new approaches.
· Exemplary interpersonal skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills to frequently negotiate with, persuade and sell to hotel guest(s) and/or corporate clients.
· Reliable transportation to travel locally to make outside calls, attend meetings and community events on a weekly basis.
· Physical capability to move about frequently in order to greet incoming guests, and attend on and off-property appointments and events.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
