What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front Desk Manager position at Holiday Inn Oakland Airport?
The SpringHill Suites by Marriott Oakland Airport is seeking a dynamic candidate experienced in Fosse to assist management during daily guest service operations. A Front Desk Manager is responsible for managing the first impressions of our guests, and therefore, must perform the following responsibilities and tasks to the highest standards:
- This position requires a flexible schedule and candidate must be available to work any shift needed.
- Prepare weekly schedule for a staff of up to 25
- Manage all costs, including labor and supplies
- Train, supervise and support front office staff (guest service agents and drivers)
- Participates in the selection of front office personnel
- Schedule shifts according to hotel occupancy and work flow
- Supervise the efficient operations of reception including check in/out procedures
- Support team members in handling guest requests and ensures a positive outcome is achieved
- Ensure that the GM are kept fully aware of any relevant feedback from guests and/or other departments
- Demonstrate a high level of customer service at all times
- Understand thoroughly all hotel room categories, room rates, packages, promotions and other general product knowledge necessary to perform daily duties
- Respond and resolve all guest complaints in a timely fashion, including GXP
- Reconcile all A/R accounts in a timely manner
- Monitor the appearance, standards and performance of the front office team with an emphasis on training and teamwork
- Maximize room occupancy and use up-selling techniques to promote hotel services and facilities
- Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics which will inspire team members to exceed standards
- Act in accordance with fire, health and safety regulations and follow the correct procedures when required
- Follow and adhere to company brand standards
- Assist other departments whenever necessary and maintain good working relationships with team members

- Previous supervisory experience in the hotel industry
- Previous experience with Marriott brand hotel and FOSSE property management system
Job Requirements:
- Successful history as a Guest Service Supervisor or related hospitality experience
- Flexible Schedule
- Task-driven individual
- Experience with Marriott reservations software, FOSSE, preferred
- Understanding of how travel planning websites operate, like Booking.com, Expedia, TripAdvisor
- Customer service attitude
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Degree in Hospitality management is a plus
