What are the responsibilities and job description for the Police Cadet position at Holland, City of (MI)?
Pre-professional opportunity for Criminal Justice students, which allows first-hand experience in local law enforcement operations through employment while pursuing higher education.1. Provide internal and external customer service.
2. Assist customers with fingerprinting, gun permits/registration, sex offender registration, report requests, traffic citations, customer service, and many other functions.
3. Code Enforcement activities, including ticketing and animal complaints.
4. Jail operations and processing arrested subjects.
5. Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) operation.
6. Using local police and court databases to determine prior contact and activity.
7. Writing, dictating, and supplementing reports, as well as learning the functions of area law enforcement agencies.
8. Other duties as assigned.1. Enrolled in a Criminal Justice college program with good academic standing.
2. Available to work first, second, and third shifts (will accommodate class schedule).
3. Able to pass a thorough background check, with no felony convictions.
4. Possess acceptable physical, emotional, and mental fitness and be of good moral character.
5. Valid Michigan driver’s license.
6. Willing to commit to a two-year cadet program.
7. Must demonstrate ability to prepare, write and/or dictate thorough investigation and follow up reports.
8. Must possess the ability and license to drive assigned police vehicles, after a complete driver record check.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Frequently exposed to weather, including occasional exposure to extreme cold or heat and wet or humid conditions.
- Occasionally exposed to vibration, moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, radiation, explosives, and toxic/caustic chemicals.
- Occasionally required to work in highly exposed locations.
- Occasionally requires lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
