Activity Assistant
Care Resources (PACE) is seeking a seasoned full-time Recreational Therapy Assistant (RTA) who will be responsible for assisting the CTRS in the planning, coordinating, and facilitating of a variety of individual and group therapeutic and social activities for participants. Main focus will be in relation to activity but may also be responsible for providing personal care and various other care services necessary for attending to the personal needs, support and health status of the participant of the PACE program.
RTA/Activity Assistant Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists in planning, coordinating, and facilitating a variety of individual and group therapeutic/social activities for Care Resources participants.
Completes required documentation within the electronic medial record.
Coordinates the efforts of volunteers assisting in the facilitation of activities.
Transports participants within the center, to/from activities, and arranges activity rooms, as needed.
Maintains general order in the activities area, including daily clean-up, and supply inventory.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Universal Worker Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Previous RTA or Activity Assistant experience.
The job requires knowledge normally acquired through completion of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Geriatric experience is preferred.
A minimum of one-year experience working with a frail or elderly population, preferred.
Must be able to multi-task, work independently and in a team setting.
Experience in leading group activities.
Must have current valid driver’s license and insurance, Michigan preferred.
Must maintain current knowledge of and adhere to required regulatory compliance by governing entities, HIPAA and PACE specific regulations.
Skills and Abilities Required:
Ability to work with elderly participants who may at times be ill, disabled, confused, hostile and/or emotionally upset.
Working knowledge of Standard Precautions.
Typing skills with computer background necessary to effectively utilize computer software.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and good organizational skills.
Willingness to accept additional responsibility.
Ability to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
Mental and Physical Demands:
Pressures related to dealing with the concerns and emotional needs of participants and their families, fulfilling scheduling requirements, etc.
Ability to participate in a variety of recreational activities.
The ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
Working Conditions:
Work may involve occasional travel.

This position will take place at the Care Resources Lowell location.
