The Project Manager II will work under the direction of the manager of the PMO to provide outstanding technology, system and process leadership to project staff. The position will be responsible for utilizing PMO standards and best practices to drive the project life cycle to fruition in pursuit of outstanding project outcomes. The role will undertake efforts to ensure holistic system solutions. In addition, the Project Manager II will collaborate with customers at all levels to effectively manage expectations and outcomes.
Project Leadership
- Provides energetic and enthusiastic project leadership necessary to instill project staff and customers with a sense of purpose essential to a positive outcome.
- Establishes communication and project reporting mechanisms conducive to evoking customer trust and manage expectations.
- Leads project team meetings and/or communicate with larger audiences.
- Reviews vendor contracts to attain a working understanding of provisions.
- Assumes ownership of the contracting process. Manages vendors, vendor deliverables, contract provisions and outside resources.
- Assists management in the development and preparation of project capital estimates, budgets and FTE requirements.
- Provides ongoing oversight to insure accuracy, and manages project budget.
Project Outcomes
- Drives projects to meet established goals and deadlines.
- Consistently monitors project staff productivity and quality of work for improvement opportunities and provides routine feedback to staff and management.
- Establishes project task priorities and collaborates with IT management on assignments.
- In concert with requesting department, defines project scope, requirements, resource estimates and deliverables.
- Develops and maintains written proposals, project plans, scope documents, issues lists, resources grids, etc.
- Manages the transition of project knowledge from implementation staff to operational staff.
- Ensures systems are documented in accordance with PMO standards.
- Develops disaster recovery and business continuity documentation for project.
- Provides limited application support during operational transition.
PMO Standards and Best Practices
- Effectively utilizes PMO standard tools and best practice methods to achieve positive project outcomes.
- Contributes to the establishment and modification of PMO project documents and policies.
- Contributes to the establishment and modification of the PMO project framework.
- Mentor's Project Manager I staff on PMO Standards and Best Practices.
Process Improvement
- Provides feedback on customer satisfaction levels for projects assigned and potential options for customer satisfaction improvement.
- Provides feedback to PMO Team on project delivery improvement opportunities.
- Strives to maintain stellar project quality and offers recommendations for project quality improvement.
- Is an active participant in the Change Control process and contributes to its content.
