The Coordinator, a qualified RN, assists the Department Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the unit including oversight of the Patient Care Assistant staff. This function is in accordance with Michigan Public Health Code Act 368 of 1078, Article 15 (Health Occupations), Part 172 (Nursing), the ANA Registered Nurse Standards and the Holland Hospital Professional Nursing Practice Handbook. Under the direction and delegation of the manager, assists with planning, implementing and evaluating current practices to promote high-quality, cost-effective care; ensures focus and emphasis on enhancing patient and staff satisfaction; performs other duties as assigned. This position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and service appropriate to the age of the patients served in his / her area. Provides overall department leadership in absence of Manager.

Employment Type : Part Time, 48 hours every 2 weeks

Schedule : 7 : 00 am - 3 : 30 pm

Requirements : Graduate of accredited Registered Nursing Program required, Current Michigan RN License required, Current BLS for the Healthcare Provider (or completed within 60 days of hire) required

  • COLLABORATIONCollaborates with patient, family and others in the conduct of nursing practice.
  • ETHICSIntegrates ethical provisions in all areas of practice.
  • EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICE and RESEARCHIntegrates evidence and research findings into practice.
  • RESOURCE UTILIZATIONUtilizes appropriate resources to plan and provide nursing services that are safe, effective, and financially responsible.
  • ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTHPractices in an environmentally safe and healthy manner.
  • In addition, the nurse demonstrates COLLEGIALITY by interacting with and contributing to the professional development and training of peers, colleagues, and students.

ADMINISTRATIVE - LEADERSHIP AND STAFF PERFORMANCE :

  • Serves as a mentor and resource for unit personnel.
  • Provides timely, fair, and unbiased performance feedback to unit personnel.
  • Conducts employee performance reviews; assists employees in the development and achievement of annual performance goals.
  • Performs corrective action, with the input of the Department Manager and Human Resources, as necessary.
  • Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of staff practicing in a Shared Governance model of nursing practice.
  • Works in collaboration with the Professional Development Educator orienting and maintaining the required training and skills of staff.
  • ADMINISTRATIVE - CUSTOMER SATISFACTION :

  • Routinely seeks customer feedback to assess patient, staff and physician satisfaction.
  • Works with Patient Relations and Risk Management to provide timely follow-up on all patient / significant other (s) or staff concerns.
  • Collaborates with Manager to develop and implement a plan to enhance customer satisfaction as needed.
  • Establishes effective communication mechanisms to inform staff and physicians of changes in policies and procedures or practice standards in the unit
  • ADMINISTRATIVE - RESOURCE UTILIZATION :

  • Assists the Department Manager and Department Director in the preparation and implementation of the budget including monitoring productivity, identifying and implementing cost improvement initiatives and variance reporting.
  • Assists manager in development and implementation of staff planning.
  • Assists manager in hiring staff and implementing the recruitment / retention plan.
  • Assists the manager and nurse educator in successful orientation of new staff
  • Ensures availability and operation of necessary equipment and supplies.
  • ADMINISTRATIVE - EVALUATION :

  • Collaborates with the Manager to identify, implement, and monitor quality improvement in unit systems to assure the delivery of safe, quality care and compliance with professional and regulatory agencies.
  • Contributes to unit and organization-wide strategic planning by identifying unit needs, participating in special projects and promoting staff involvement .
