Reports To: Machine Shop Lead
Compensation: Class k - $21.00
Description:
Operate and monitor various machining centers which could include lathes, drill press, mills, saws, CNC lathes, or CNC mills in the production of precision parts.
Job Responsibilities:
- Set up, adjust, and operate all the basic machine tools to perform precision machining operations.
- Observe and listen to operating machines to diagnose machine malfunctions and determine needed adjustments or repairs.
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines during machining processes.
- Must be able to use precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
- Read and interpret blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data.
- Inspect precision machined parts to meet specified tolerances.
- Deburr parts as needed.
- Check coolant and fluid levels daily.
- Clean machine and work area at the end of the shift.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Must have 2 years experience operating metal cutting CNC machines.
- Able to read prints, drawings, schedules, and related production documents.
- Able to use precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
- Able to understand and use shop math.
- Able to work independently.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Trade school or vocational training preferred.
- Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
- Requires prolonged standing, some bending and stretching, lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Requires eye-hand coordination.
- Works in a high noise level environment.
