OIL AND GAS ATTORNEY POSITION
Holliday Energy Law Group is looking for candidates to join our growing team in our San Antonio office, primarily to assist in preparation of oil and gas title opinions in Texas and New Mexico, and regulatory advising in New Mexico with a strong emphasis on compulsory pooling. Candidates must be admitted to practice law in at least one of the following states: Texas or New Mexico.

Experience:
The ideal candidate will have 2 to 5 years of relevant experience, whether through:
- In-house work in a land or legal department at an exploration and production company,
- Drafting title opinions, or
- Field experience as a landman preparing runsheets or abstracts of title.

Responsibilities

Legal Advice & Documentation:
- Draft and deliver title opinions and legal memoranda addressing oil and gas title, operational, and regulatory law issues.
- Provide guidance on land transactions, acquisitions, leases, and related real estate matters.

Risk Mitigation & Compliance:
- Identify and address legal risks, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
- Support due diligence efforts on property and title matters.

Collaboration & Teamwork:
- Work closely with internal teams—land, operations, finance—to support strategic initiatives.
- Actively participate in our quarterly firm-wide planning sessions, setting and achieving individual priorities that align with our strategic goals.

Continuous Improvement:
- Consistently strive for excellence in your billable work while contributing to non-billable process improvement projects.
Requirements
- Licensing: Must hold an active law license in Texas or New Mexico (candidates licensed in Oklahoma, North Dakota, or Ohio may be considered, with compensation adjusted accordingly).
- Experience: 2 to 5 years in oil and gas title, transactional, or regulatory law—ideally with hands-on experience in a land department, drafting title opinions, or field land management.
- Skills:
- Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
- A strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
