The Collection Manager manages and directs the daily activities of a team of collection agents. The primary objective of the Collection Manager is to coach the team into meeting and exceeding their goals while ensuring compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, laws, and regulations. Most team goals are set on a monthly basis, so the ideal candidate would be an individual that thrives on hitting short-term goals, while keeping the overall big picture in mind. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drive results through applying analytics to the collection team to ensure they are set up for success
- Motivate your collection team through a combination of coaching and helping team members meet their recovery goals; manage both onsite and off-site employees
- Manage and coordinate the work flow of accounts to ensure the collection staff are working on accounts to maximize the teams goals
- Ensure that collection staff is operating in accordance with policies and procedures of the department as well as within the organization
- Transition new hires from our training program to your team to maximize their work potential
- Communicate with upper management on a timely basis on team progress
- Analyze, through the use of spreadsheet, and other system tools the teams work queue in order to identify proper staffing, progress, anomalies and areas of opportunity
- Above average communication skills with the ability to convey messages, data and information in a complete, concise and meaningful manner
- Mentor new employees, implement industry changes within the collection department, recruit qualified collection staff and review monthly performance of assigned staff
- Must be able to handle multiple clients within your team and administer/manage to their expectations
- Establish yourself as a resource, primarily for your direct team, and then more broadly for the entire organization
- Develop, recommend, and implement plans to increase recoveries and increase efficiencies including specific campaigns, schedules, personnel, strategies and collection techniques
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and communication skills
- Work closely with the Group Director to perform client analysis, process bi-monthly reports and plan strategy to increase revenue
- Ability to utilize multiple tools to analyze the business and make recommendations for improvement
- Candidate must have a strong work ethic and a strong desire to achieve individual and team goals
- Working knowledge of the FDCPA, HIPAA, first and third party collections, and automatic dialer systems
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or euivalent
- 2 plus years of Collection Management experience is required, specifically in the medical accounts receivable market
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Working knowledge of the medical insurance processes and related terminology is required
- Working knowledge with medical collections or major hospital billing and record systems such as Epic, Star, Sorrian etc., is required
- Working knowledge or FACS or other nationally recognized collection software; ability to learn and adapt to new systems
- Strong knowledge of federal, state and local laws, regulations and rules concerning collections
- Effective skills in communication, negotiation, decision making, good management, and skills to problem solve in short notice
- Ability to provide excellent customer service
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail required
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point software
- Military background is a plus
- Bilingual is a plus
