What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utility Technician I/II/III-Maintenance position at Holly Springs?
This position would perform tasks in the maintenance and repair of equipment in water, sewer, and reclaimed water utility systems. This position is required to pull rotating on call. Work is performed under regular supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and is inspected for compliance with established standards. Starting annual salary $41,803.36 (grade C) depending on relevant work experience. Strong candidates will be considered for employment at above starting salary. Work schedule is business hours with on-call rotation.• Serve as a member of maintenance team and must perform all tasks efficiently and effectively.
• Must be able to operate a database to check work orders and enter data.
• Primary duties involve maintenance activities involving electrical and mechanical systems and equipment.
• Inspections, flushing, and replacing air release valves on force mains, reclaim lines and water mains.
• Oversight and operation of odor control systems (manhole diffusers, carbon scrubbers, chemical feed pumps, and storage tanks)
• Work also involves special projects and related tasks to improve system performance.
• Must wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all appropriate times.
• Ability to be proficient in the operation of Combination Jet/Vacuum truck or have the ability to learn within 6 months.
• Performing vehicle and equipment pre/post trip inspections; monitoring and replenishing fluids; performing basic corrective repairs.
• Communicating work-related needs and issues to supervisor by providing updates regarding the status of open work orders and construction, maintenance, and facility tasks.
• Must be able to perform heavy work, exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, 50 lbs. of force frequently, and 20 lbs. of force constantly.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred experience of equipment operation/driving or specialized maintenance experience in a utility setting.
• Able to obtain a valid North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement within six months to a year from employment and a satisfactory driving record.
• Must complete job-related and/or safety training based on assignment, such as (but not limited to) lock out/tag out, confined space entry, ladder safety, IMSA signs and markings level II certification, work zone safety, respirator, and emergency evacuation training.
