Administrative Assistant (Full-Time)

Holmes Soil and Water Conservation District works with the citizens of Holmes County, state and local agencies, and private organizations to promote responsible land-use decisions. We provide information, technical guidance, and cost-share assistance to homeowners, producers, and educators. This position is limited to 16-24 hours/week on a flexible schedule. Regular office hours are 8:00 am- 4:30 p.m Monday – Friday. The deadline for applications is Friday April 25th.

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and QuickBooks software.
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance as scheduled.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Business Transactions
Perform functions related to bill paying according to county and state auditor bill paying procedures. Processes receipts, invoices, deposits. Reconciles accounts monthly, provides necessary board financial reports, completes year-end financial cash basis report, county financial reports, and sends 1099G forms. Prepares financial records for bi-annual state audits.

Project Assistance

  • Enters data into the statewide project management and timekeeping system, including mapping.
  • Enters data into Excel for cover crop program, mailings, progress tracking for various programs.
  • Enters data for conservation and nutrient management plans.
  • Records district tree sales order forms, coordinates mailings, receipts, and deposits
  • Assists with Partners in Conservation program and special events (5th grade farm tour, annual meeting, etc.).
  • Provides administrative support for soil testing program.
  • Provides administrative support for subdivision reviews.
  • Provides support to education and outreach programs.

Other Administrative Duties

  • Answers phone, takes messages, receives visitors, and assists with their needs.
  • Handles correspondence and mailings, completes various county and state reports.
  • Maintains inventory and office supplies as needed.
  • Files and maintains records in accordance with retention schedule and state audit guidelines.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Compensation
Starting wage consideration begins at $17-22/per hour, based on education, experience, and wage history. Also included are sick leave and participation in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System.

This position is under the daily supervision of the Program Administrator. In accordance with the Holmes SWCD personnel policy, all new employees are subject to a 120-day probationary period.
