The Holocaust Documentation and Education Center (HDEC), Inc., located in Dania Beach, Florida, is seeking an Educational Outreach Coordinator, who is a energetic, highly-motivated, creative and skilled professional with wide-ranging knowledge of the Holocaust to become part of the HDEC team. Founded in 1980 as a non-denominational, non-for-profit institution, the HDEC has the following two-fold mission:
To document and present an enduring, historically accurate record of the Holocaust, through eyewitness accounts by Survivors, Liberators, Rescuers and others who survived terrifying experiences, overcame fear and grief, and triumphed to live meaningful and productive lives.
To teach people of all walks of life the universal lessons of the Holocaust, through thought-provoking exhibitions and insightful programming, illuminating the catastrophic ramifications of prejudice, racism, stereotyping and bullying which tragically still occur today.
Job Description of the Educational Outreach Coordinator:
1. Demonstrate passion for the mission of the Holocaust
2. Bachelor's degree required; Master's Degree preferred in History
3. Demonstrate ability to work with volunteers and partner agencies
4. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; Spanish a plus
5. Familiar with importance and significance of first-hand eyewitness testimony
6. Proficiency in various software including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe and Access
7. Coordinate Student Awareness Day symposiums 200 – 1000 Middle/High School students
8. Plan Annual Teacher Trainings/Institutes on Holocaust Education for teachers in South Florida
9. Oversee the Annual Art & Writing Contests. Plan theme & coordinate with Tri-Counties and ensure national distribution. Oversee judging and plan Awards Ceremony.
10. Coordinate our Meet the Author Series which highlights the author of a Holocaust-related book.
11. Track the success of education programs through a variety of metrics and measurable outcomes
12. Generate new partnerships with community education stakeholders, including but not limited to schools, colleges and universities, public school districts and other museums
13. Coordinate all school visits/ tours, Speakers Bureau
14. Create Docent training for all Travelling Exhibitions and tours
15. Enhance on-going and create new on site and online programming in Holocaust education
16. Develop Yom HaShoah and Kristallnacht Teacher resource programming and packets
