- High school diploma or equivalent with additional specialized training required, Bachelors’ Degree in related field preferred
- Minimum of five years job-related experience required
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred
- Exceptional organizational, planning, self-management, time management, and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Interpersonal skills sufficient to engage with customers, vendors, and peers in order to exchange information, motivate, influence and persuade
- Ability to work on multiple projects and deal effectively with employees and management
- Working knowledge of a payroll software (Ex. UKG, ELC/DBS)
- Advanced Microsoft Office products skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
- Technical knowledge and expertise related to the payroll process and associated work-flow
- Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems and ability to understand implications to and individual and/or the organization
- Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
- Maintains the payroll function within the HRIS system by coordinating with internal customers and outside vendors including, but not limited to, UKG, Empower, and Citizens Equity First Credit Union (CEFCU)
- Assists the Payroll Manager with automating and improving current processes and procedures relating to the payroll functions
- Grants and maintains access for employees in timekeeping systems
- Creates new approvers, approval groups, departments in work order and timekeeping system
- Processes employee deductions such as tools, 401(k), uniforms and any other miscellaneous deductions
- Loads batches into the payroll system for hourly employees in the DBS system as well as commission batches
- Processes biweekly payroll and sends bank and information files to out-sourced agencies as well as general ledger postings
- Reconciles submitted files for 401(k), payroll taxes and deferred compensation
- Creates and generate reports as requested, as it relates to employee payroll data
- Processes the calculations of commissions and incentives earned by employees
- Researches and verifies correct allocation of employee’s salaries and expenses as requested in order to ensure accurate data posting to the general ledger systems
- Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Limited travel is to be expected
