Medical Assistant II (Certified)

POSITION PURPOSE

The Medical Assistant II (Certified) position maintains certification and is responsible for a variety of patient care, technical, and clerical related functions under the direction of a physician. The Medical Assistant II (Certified) is responsible for the clinic-patient flow by assisting members of the patient care team and providing a broad range of healthcare services that assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure the clinic/office runs smoothly.

MINIMUM MANDATORY qualifications

Experience:

• 5 years as a Medical Assistant

Education:

• High school diploma or GED High School Equivalency Test required.
• Medical Assistant Certification required or Current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification
• If a graduate of a Medical Assistant Course or EMT without a medical assistant certification must complete medical assistant certification within 6 months of hire.

Mandatory Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required and maintained throughout employment.
• Possess strong professional, personable, and motivational personality that builds strong relationships with patients.
• Applications including Microsoft Word and Outlook and familiarity with electronic health record systems.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with practice leadership, physicians, advanced practitioners, colleagues, and other Holy Cross Medical Center (HCMC) and Taos Professional Services (TPS) team members.
