What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant II (Certified) position at Holy Cross Hospital?
POSITION PURPOSE
The Medical Assistant II (Certified) position maintains certification and is responsible for a variety of patient care, technical, and clerical related functions under the direction of a physician. The Medical Assistant II (Certified) is responsible for the clinic-patient flow by assisting members of the patient care team and providing a broad range of healthcare services that assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure the clinic/office runs smoothly.
MINIMUM MANDATORY qualifications
Experience:
- 5 years as a Medical Assistant
Education:
- High school diploma or GED High School Equivalency Test required.
- Medical Assistant Certification required or Current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification
- If a graduate of a Medical Assistant Course or EMT without a medical assistant certification must complete medical assistant certification within 6 months of hire.
Mandatory Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required and maintained throughout employment.
- Possess strong professional, personable, and motivational personality that builds strong relationships with patients.
- Applications including Microsoft Word and Outlook and familiarity with electronic health record systems.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with practice leadership, physicians, advanced practitioners, colleagues, and other Holy Cross Medical Center (HCMC) and Taos Professional Services (TPS) team members.
