What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant I position at Holy Cross Medical Center?
The Medical Assistant I functions in a dual clinical and non-clinical capacity. The Medical Assistant I reports directly to the Physician Practice Manager. The Medical Assistant I also works under the clinical supervision of the physician or advanced practitioner, assisting in the delivery of patient care. The Medical Assistant I supports patient care by consistently and competently performing duties under the scope of practice as set forth by HCMC and TPS leadership. The Medical Assistant I is also cross-trained to perform in a non-clinical capacity, supporting the operations of front office procedures. While the Medical Assistant I is assigned to a primary physician or advanced practitioner, the Medical Assistant I is expected to be flexible, providing clinical or non-clinical coverage to all TPS practices during staffing shortages.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a Medical Assistant or CNA program.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required and maintained current throughout employment.
- 1 year of experience in an out-patient practice setting utilizing an EHR is preferred.
- 2 years customer service experience
