Program: Nazareth Prep
Hours: Contract Hours, Mainly Fridays, some evenings and weekends required.

Part-Time Contract Culinary Arts Teacher
Nazareth Prep is seeking a dynamic and passionate culinary arts instructor for a part-time contract position to teach a hands-on culinary arts course to high school students. Nazareth Prep boasts a well-equipped culinary teaching kitchen, providing an ideal environment for students to learn and practice culinary skills. The successful candidate will be available to teach two, three-hour classes or three, two-hour classes on Fridays.
Course Overview:
The culinary arts course will provide students with a comprehensive foundation in culinary skills, food safety, and industry knowledge. Students will learn a variety of cooking techniques, explore different cuisines, and develop their ability to create delicious and visually appealing dishes. The course will culminate in a series of culinary projects, including catering events, food demonstrations, and restaurant simulations. By the end of the year, students will be equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue further education or careers in the culinary industry.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging and informative culinary arts curriculum aligned with state and school standards.
- Create a stimulating and safe learning environment that fosters student creativity and critical thinking.
- Utilize the school's well-equipped culinary teaching kitchen to provide hands-on learning experiences.
- Teach students essential culinary techniques, food safety, and sanitation practices.
- Prepare students for and administer the safe-serve exam during the first quarter.
- Organize and oversee culinary projects, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
- Collaborate with school administration and support staff to ensure program success.
- Maintain accurate student records and assessment data.
- Cultivate a positive and supportive classroom culture that encourages student growth and development.
- Maintain the culinary teaching kitchen in a clean and organized manner.
- Manage and order kitchen supplies as needed.
Additional Opportunities:
The culinary arts instructor may also have the opportunity to teach additional culinary classes during the school’s extended day program or participate in special cuisine pop-up events. These opportunities will be discussed further during the interview process.
Qualifications:
- Culinary arts degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven ability to teach and engage high school students.
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety, and sanitation.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to create and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Experience in curriculum development and lesson planning preferred.
- Valid safe-serve certification required.
- Must have Act 33/34 and FBI clearances
