Holy Innocents' Episcopal School is seeking a qualified and motivated Assistant Director of Security to join our security team. The Assistant Director will support the Director of Security in ensuring a safe and secure environment for all students, staff, and visitors. This role involves strategic planning, supervision of security operations, and oversight of security staff to maintain a secure campus.
The Assistant Director of Security must possess strong leadership skills and have a strategic mindset to anticipate and address potential security threats. P.O.S.T certification in good standing, as defined by GA POST Council, is required. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and implementation of strategic security plans and policies for the school.
- Supervise, manage, and train a team of security professionals to ensure the effective operation of all security functions.
- Ensure the security team provides excellent service and adheres to all school policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Oversee security operations, including campus patrols, event security, and emergency response planning.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local law enforcement and emergency services to ensure effective communication and response in the event of an incident.
- Manage access control systems and ensure proper protocol is followed for entry and exit on campus.
- Monitor security technology (e.g., cameras, alarm systems) and ensure proper maintenance and functionality.
- Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and implement necessary improvements.
- Direct traffic flow to ensure a smooth and efficient carpool process. Monitor carpool lanes and assist vehicles with proper positioning and lane usage.
- Provide guidance and support during emergency situations, including evacuations, medical emergencies, or threats to campus safety.
- Prepare and review security reports and logs, ensuring accurate documentation of incidents and activities.
- Collaborate with school administrators to support the overall safety and security needs of the school community.
- Maintain courteous communications with all members of the community at all times.
- Work additional shifts, including overnight, evening, weekends, and/or rotating shifts based on operational needs.
Qualifications:
- Must possess an active P.O.S.T Certificate in good standing as defined by GA POST Council.
- Valid drivers license and an acceptable driving history required.
- Proven experience in law enforcement, security management, or related field.
- Strong strategic planning and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate security risks and respond effectively.
- Experience in managing and leading teams, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations, with a strong focus on public safety.
- Knowledge of security technology systems (surveillance cameras, alarms, access control systems) and their operation.
- Certification in security management, law enforcement, or related field preferred.
- Ability to pass a thorough background check and meet all state and local requirements for carrying a weapon on school grounds.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk, stand, and patrol the campus for extended periods.
- Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations, including physically assisting in evacuations or securing areas.
- Ability to carry and use security equipment as needed.
