What are the responsibilities and job description for the Success Student Ambassadors position at Holyoke Community College?
Success Ambassadors will provide peer-to-peer mentorship to a cohort of 20 Success Scholars. They will assist the professional Success Coaches with program/workshop facilitation, planning of events, social functions; and will serve as an ambassador for an assigned office at HCC. Success Ambassadors are required to attend Ambassador orientation.
The Student Ambassador and Mentorship Program (SAMP) is an equity-driven initiative that provides HCC students an opportunity to serve and represent Holyoke Community College in various capacities. SAMPs core values are Leadership, Professional Development, and Community. SAMP aims to provide on-going leadership and professional development training to prepare and support participants in their role. To foster a sense of belonging amongst the cohort, participants are provided peer-to-peer mentorship and opportunities to build community.
Provide peer-to-peer mentorship to a caseload of up to 20 Success Scholars
Meet with a Success Coach weekly to review caseload of students
Document interactions with mentees in a timely manner
Promote student success
Serve as positive role model
Support recruitment events
Lead community service projects and events for SAMP Scholars
Assist current and incoming students with campus technology (i.e Handshake, Navigate, Banner, etc.)
Serve as a greeter during the first week of classes in the fall and spring semesters.
Attend Accepted Student Days during the summer
Serve as interns across campus during the summer term
Make appropriate referrals
Provide campus tours to prospective students and other community members
Represent the college at various events
*Assist campus departments with office duties and events
Attend monthly SAMP support meetings, workshops, and required trainings
Meet with mentees on a regular basis
Respond to mentee communication in a timely manner
Other duties as assigned.
*Department specific duties are left to the discretion of each department manager; Department managers will be responsible for providing on-boarding orientation to address specific department needs.
REQUIRED: Eligibility for all SAMP participants:Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0
Enrolled in a minimum of six credits
Earned a minimum of six credits
