What this role is all about:

Homage Senior Services is seeking an engaging and organized Grants Manager to communicate with current and potential grantors regarding how their funds are used in keeping older adults and people with disabilities healthy and safe. The main responsibility of this role is ensuring our grantors impact is clearly and consistently communicated back to them, both verbally and in writing. The Grants Manager must be able to build rapport and be an effective collaborator and motivator internally and externally. This role provides clear and compelling data and stories to demonstrate impact of investment. It is vital grantors understand how important they are in caring for the older adults and people with disabilities we serve.

The Grants Manager is responsible for managing the relationships of grantors in their portfolio, writing compelling grants, and creating and implementing communication plans and strategies to improve grant retention, increase grantor engagement, and broaden our base of support. The Grants Manager will recommend the best grant writing strategies, approaches, and causes that may appeal to individual and government grantors while working closely with the program teams, finance team, and the community to meet identified organizational needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Grants Manager is responsible for researching, developing, and preparing new and existing grant proposals to government entities, corporations, and foundations. Partners and collaborates with the marketing and philanthropy teams to successfully apply for funding opportunities for programmatic initiatives, reports on program outcomes, and shares Homages story from a strengths-based perspective.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Researching and Writing grant Proposals

  • Research and identify prospective funding partners in alignment with Homages mission
  • Write and prepare Letters of Interest (LOIs), compelling grant proposals, and accurate impact reports for existing and prospective funding partners and persuasively communicating Homages goals, mission, and programs.
  • Work closely with staff members to synthesize program activities, data, and financials for proposals and reports
  • Manage the proposal submission process to ensure timely submission of all required materials
  • Comply with funder guidelines during grant submission and reporting
  • Develop annual grants plan in partnership with the Philanthropy Director and Foundation Grants Writer
  • Develop and maintain a grant proposal and opportunities calendar for single and multi-year opportunities
  • Steward a small portfolio of family foundations as assigned
  • Maintain funder information, strategy, and moves in donor database
  • Demonstrate an eagerness to learn and enhance skills that promote equity and inclusion. Participates in events related to understanding institutional racism and other forms of oppression.
  • Assume and effectively discharge other related duties as assigned

General

  • Keep informed of developments in the fields of philanthropy, donor relations, communications and marketing, non-profit management and governance, and areas impacting the older adult community and use this information to help Homage operate with initiative and innovation
  • Lead, manage, and mentor all assigned staff including recruitment, training, and evaluation
  • Work on special projects and perform other duties as assigned
  • Regular and routine attendance

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success and progressive responsibility in grant writing and non-profit fund development
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience
  • Experience with fundraising software; effective working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint); comfortable navigating in Microsoft Windows environment and using internet browsers
  • Must comply with contractual or agency immunization and health screening requirements

Absent any regulatory or contractual requirement for specific education/certification, other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field
  • Experience with RENXT database
  • Experience with diverse communities
  • Fluency in other languages in addition to English

Work environment and physical demands:

  • This work is performed in an office environment, staff's place of residence, and/or in public venues
  • When necessary, the ability to work in a semi-open office setting with frequent in-person interactions
  • Must be able to use full range of senses including hearing, sight, touch and smell as needed to complete the job's essential duties
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds occasionally related to equipment/supplies for public presentations
  • Work requires occasional travel away from the office during normal business hours.

SUMMARY OF BENEFITS

Employees working 25 hours or more are eligible to enroll in medical, dental, vision, basic life, and critical illness insurance, with an increased cost share for employees scheduled for 25-29 hours/week. Employees working 20 hours or more per week receive 11 designated paid holidays plus 2 "floating holidays" per year, as well as paid vacation and sick time. Employees age 21 and older are able to enroll in our 401K plan upon hire and, after one year and at least 1000 hours worked, will be eligible for our matching program.

New hires are budgeted to start in the $68-80k salary range, depending upon experience.
