The Role of Legal Counsel
We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join our team. As a key member of our compliance department, you will be responsible for evaluating current and new regulations to ensure adherence to Illinois Department on Aging standards. You will also review company processes across departments and assess contracts with Managed Care Organizations. This role reports directly to the Chief Compliance Officer.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, Review, and Negotiate Contracts: Develop, evaluate, and negotiate various contracts, including transportation agreements, vendor contracts, and other legal documents to safeguard the company's interests.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential legal risks associated with our business operations and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Dispute Resolution: Manage legal disputes and litigation matters, collaborating with the Chief Compliance Officer when necessary, to protect the company's interests and resolve issues efficiently.
- Compliance Training: Design and conduct training programs for employees to ensure awareness and compliance with relevant legal requirements.
- General Legal Support: Provide expert legal advice and support on a wide range of legal matters as they arise during business operations.
- Perform Periodic Audits: Conduct regular audits on company procedures and processes to ensure adherence to IDoA and AUAF policies.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must possess:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience as a compliance officer, Legal Counsel, or similar position.
- Strong knowledge of industry processes and regulations.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Pass state required background checks.
