What are the responsibilities and job description for the Local Route Driver position at Home City Ice?
Home City Ice is a family owned and operated company that has been in the ice business since 1924. This season will be our 100th season and we're looking for people to join our family at our location in East Greenville. We're looking for route delivery drivers that aren't afraid of physical work and want to make as much money as possible for the upcoming season and beyond.
Job Requirements
-Must be 18 years of age or older
-Must be able to pass a background check for motor vehicle and criminal. MVR goes back 5 years and felonies go back 8 years
-Must be able to pass a drug screen
-Must prefer physical work
-Must have weekend availability and be able to work Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day weekends
-Must have CDL B permit at minimum, license preferred. Permit not required until start date
Job Overview
Our route delivery drivers are our first line of defense in keeping our customers happy. Most of our customers are gas stations, convenience stores, and beer stores. Drivers come in between 6:00 and 6:30am, load their route on the tablet (will be taught during training) and go to the stops and deliver in order. We're filling the iceboxes up, big and small bags, patterns of which are taught during training. The job is simple but requires attention to safety standards and moving at a quick pace, as we don't have an overly expensive product and need to get finished and on to the next store. We offer a typical vendor based pay system with hourly base and commission bonuses that will be explained more thoroughly during the interview. The job is very similar to soda, beer, candy, and other vendor positions, it's just ice instead.
