This is a full-time on-site position reporting to our corporate office in Chico.
The Accounting Manager is a leadership position that manages the direction, coordination and evaluation of the accounting team, ensuring quality, accuracy and timeliness of the monthly, quarterly and annual financial records and workpapers and reporting as required to management, third parties and internal operations teams. The Accounting Manager also actively participates in planning, budgeting and analytical review, to ensure protection of company assets, compliance with various tax regulations and operational best practices are achieved.
The Accounting Manager works under tight deadlines, performs critical decision making independently; exhibiting high ability to prioritize, communicate, orate, make and ensure that their team meets goals and objectives. This position requires attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to resolve issues proactively as well as the capability to communicate with executives, vendors and employees in a professional manner. The candidate must have exceptional analytical skills, is detail oriented and able to maintain a high level of confidentiality. This position requires the ability to follow up, be a strong team player while working under pressure situations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform and oversee the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to:
- Oversee accounts payable, payroll, accounts receivable, purchasing, general ledger, and taxes
- Lead, mentor and train a growing accounting team of 3-6 people
- Prioritizes team deadlines and leads the team in adapting to the demands of a fast-growing company
- Ensure accurate and timely month end and year end close
- Oversee and prepare consolidated financial statements
- Ensure compliance with accounting and tax regulations
- Researching and applying technical accounting issues for compliance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP)
- Establishing/adapting and enforcing proper internal controls and accounting methods, policies/procedures and principles within the organization to ensure staff are trained to agency standards.
- Assist in review of software for accounting, billing, and clinical operations of the agency that interfaces with other departments. Make recommendations for changes or improvements in workflows to improve the functionality and productivity of the accounting and billing department.
- Review, compile and analyze financial information to prepare complex journal entries and document transactions
- Standardize and maintain a professional up-to-date filing system with robust documentation and accounting working papers
- Report on financial status on a regular basis and create ad-hoc reports when needed
- Manage and perform small to strategic special projects as needed
- Prepare financial audits for annual workers compensation, Medicare cost reports and other audits.
- Prepare annual reports for contracts held by the agency and required by the Ca Department of Health Care services for Home Health Agency licenses with HCAI and billing/reports for private insurance Health Plans.
- Interface with the Human Resources Department and their vendors to ensure benefits for employees are accurately accounted for with medical, dental and life insurance plans, 401K administration, cafeteria plans, paid time off, salary changes, for all staff.
Experience & Education & Other Requirements:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or economics
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and internal controls
- 5 years of progressive leadership in accounting & finance
- Public accounting experience strongly preferred
- Project management
- Strong financial analysis skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational and stress management skills.
- Strong self-development to further strengthen systems and procedural knowledge.
- Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel.
- Self-directed work with little to no on-going supervision.
- Ability to meet specific daily, monthly, quarterly and yearly deadlines.
- Flexible team member to assist where and when requested within the department.
- Quick Books/ Brightree/Matrix/MedCompass/ expertise a plus
- Experience in working with the health care industry is a plus.
- Valid California driver’s license and insurance and ability to drive oneself on all roads & weather conditions.
- Need to provide DMV driving record
Salary: Dependent on experience salary range is: $68,640-$93,600 per year (Exempt position)
Benefits: On the first of the month following 60 days of employment you will be eligible for health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, as well as Flexible Spending Account (FSA). Leave accrues starting on your first day of employment, and you can take paid vacation, sick and holiday leave after 90 days. We offer a 401(k) matching up to 4% after 1 year of employment and 1,000 hours worked.
