The Director of Maintenance is responsible for all maintenance staff, planning / scheduling, MRO procurement, parts management, and maintenance projects for the Norwood, MA Manufacturing Facility and Norton, MA Warehouse.. Support may be required at other locations on occasion (South Windsor, CT) This leader must provide technical leadership and guidance to the HMF supply chain team. The Director of Maintenance is expected to facilitate project teams and support their mission to drive equipment reliability, efficiency, and consistent productivity, while ensuring employee safety and product quality. The successful candidate will bring a mindset of progressive food manufacturing, personal presence, continuous learning, and people leadership to ensure that our manufacturing capability remains world class. This leader will focus on employee training & development to achieve continuous improvement and downtime reduction. Leadership capabilities , critical thinking, strategic agility, creative problem solving, and drive for success are all critical attributes of success in this role.
WHAT YOU'LL DO :
- Participates as a member of the HMF Senior Leadership Team, as well as a key member of the supply leadership team.
- Act as the technology thought leader for HMF, leveraging a personal continuous-learning mindset to drive continuous improvement, product innovation and the adoption of new technologies that drive our business.
- Effectively and efficiently identify, implement, and then use plant data collection systems (MES) to drive OEE, labor efficiency and cost control.
- Consistently stays informed of state-of-the-art technology. Can leverage internal and external resources to drive business success.
- Implement preventative maintenance routines and proactively diagnose and resolve mechanical issues to minimize plant downtime and maximize efficiency.
- Mentor and develop a team of mechanics, coaching staff towards higher performance and providing opportunities for growth and development; provide ongoing training to upskill the team.
- Offer recommendations to leadership regarding opportunities for improvement, focusing on enhancing plant safety and efficiency.
- Lead and develop 3 year capital plan and 5 year infrastructure plan.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with environmental health and safety, production, and other departments to optimize plant productivity and safety measures.
- Act as the organizational leader to consistently optimize the organizational structure to meet objectives.
- Identify, plan, develop and implement cost objectives to meet annual and long-term budgets.
- Set and maintain quality measures, preventive maintenance schedules and performance standards.
- Oversees employee safety, environmental compliance and product quality; meeting schedule commitments and cost objectives.
- Create a safe working environment and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Accelerate lean manufacturing practices and advances manufacturing strategies within the operation.
- Assign functional activities and disseminates policies and objectives to supervisors / staff /
- Organize resources to ensure effective production of goods and / or services.
- Give work direction, resolve problem, prepare schedules, and set deadlines to ensure timely completion of work.
- Prepare reports and records on department activities for the executive management team.
- Hire, train, and develops staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned
