GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under the supervision of the Jackson Area Recovery Community Program Manager, the Peer Recovery Coach performs a variety of tasks related to recovery coaching for participants at Home of New Vision and within the community. This role requires an understanding of all aspects of the Recovery Oriented System of Care approach and involves coordinating with the recovery community, treatment services, and managing scheduling and activities. Key responsibilities include tracking information, data entry, and providing support in various settings including health centers, hospitals, and correctional facilities.
DESCRIPTION:
1. Engage with and develop relationships with participants.
2. Act as an advocate for participants with the community and needed services.
3. Provide transportation to twelve-step meetings, other recovery meetings, or related activities as needed.
4. Use a strengths-based approach to assist participants in developing goal plans and steps to achieve their goals.
5. Participate in phone screenings if required.
6. Complete data entry for required reports.
7. Assist new participants in assessing and building or rebuilding their recovery capital.
8. Document daily challenges faced by participants.
9. Track progress in stages of recovery with participants.
10. Guide new individuals into the recovery community.
11. Provide participant pick-ups for Home of New Vision appointments when necessary.
12. Offer services at alternate locations such as emergency rooms, medical clinics, correctional facilities and in the field.
13. Participate in performance reviews as appropriate.
14. Adhere to all rules and regulations of primary care settings and hospitals while providing services.
15. Be available for on-call duties.
16. Work effectively with multiple pathway recovery approaches.
17. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
· A minimum of two years of continuous recovery from substance use disorders.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively, efficiently managing priorities.
· Experience working with diverse populations and cultural backgrounds.
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and proficiency with standard office equipment (computers, faxes, copiers, printers, calculators).
· A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
· Willingness to obtain CCAR or CPRC training within 6 months of hire or as state mandates.
· Ability to be on-call as needed.
EXPECTATIONS:
· Maintain strict confidentiality in performing duties as a Peer Recovery Coach.
· Demonstrate honesty, trustworthiness, respect, cultural awareness, sensitivity, flexibility, and sound work ethics.
Ensure accurate and complete data entry for report writing.
