JOB SUMMARY

Curbside Flowers is a social enterprise floral shop offering supportive employment to people transitioning out of homelessness in Oklahoma City. We are looking for an energetic and detail-oriented Wedding and Event Planner to assist customers in planning their wedding and event floral. The planner will be the main point of contact for all wedding and event customers. The planner will handle all wholesale purchases to execute the event and create design plans for florists to execute. The Wedding and Event Planner is also responsible for helping fulfill administrative and retail duties, such as keeping financial records, invoicing, professional communication, and processing payments. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Exemplify superior customer service with a friendly, helpful and courteous attitude to answer all questions customers may have about services.
  • Work closely with the Wedding and Event Coordinator to plan the implementation for all weddings and events. Create floral design “recipes” and plans for florists to implement.
  • Conduct initial communication and consultations with customers to discuss their project vision, project budget, and implementation options. Steer introductory consultations to realistic, client-centered goals for project.
  • Keep detailed client notes for all projects.
  • Draft project estimates that are in line with the client’s vision and budget parameters. Estimates will be sent to clients for edits and approval.
  • Engage in ongoing, timely communication with clients until project has reached completion, including a thank you message after completion.
  • Order flowers, plants, vases, merchandise and supplies for weddings and events. Remain within budget parameters to ensure profitability of all projects.
  • Receive shipments and unpack merchandise.
  • Work with the Wedding and Event Coordinator to coordinate transportation of all florals, supplies, and equipment to the venue in a timely manner (if delivery is required).
  • Communicate with other vendors such as wedding planners, venues, caterers, bakers, photographers, etc. to obtain information applicable to project implementation.
  • Maintain and organize the calendar for weddings and events.
  • Learn how to use the following platforms for wedding and event implementation (including but not limited to): Honeybook, Shopify, Dropbox, and Google Drive.
  • Assist with sales and inventory reports.
  • Help maintain close collaborative working relationships with community partners including, wholesale distributors, commercial clients, event coordinators, and nonprofit partners.
  • Assist the Floral Manager with the shop’s marketing strategies by collecting photos of florists and products throughout project implementation and requesting that wedding and event customers share their professional wedding/event photography with the shop for marketing purposes.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of large holiday campaigns, including but not limited to Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Christmas.
  • Assist with cleaning and maintaining floral equipment and the physical space at the flower shop.
  • Monitor employees’ progress and needs, addressing any immediate concerns and quickly communicating problems that arise to the Floral Manager and case management partners.
  • Assist employees in achieving employment success and advocate for needed services in meeting their obligations of employment.
  • Transport employees as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Some weekend and evening work may be required.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND VALUES

  • Dedication to providing meaningful employment and job training to people transitioning out of homelessness.
  • Patience and understanding working with people of different ability levels, experiences, and beliefs.
  • Ability to work independently and complete required duties in a fast paced, high stress environment.
  • Previous event floral experience with a knowledge of flowers, greens, supplies and arrangements.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including a friendly personality and positive attitude. Must greet guests and respond to their questions and requests in a courteous, fast, friendly, and helpful way.
  • Ability to calculate cost and mark up for products.
  • Strong writing, reading, listening, and speaking communications skills.
  • Ability to set and observe appropriate boundaries.
  • Possess well-developed, decision-making skills, attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to multi-task and remain calm in demanding and unpredictable situations, distinguish between the urgent and the important, and solve problems.
  • Ability to work alongside individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities, including physical and cognitive disabilities, substance abuse disorders, HIV/AIDS, mental illness, and other barriers and be able to develop rapport, provide oversight, and refer with sensitivity to cultural issues.
  • Ability to work and communicate with employees, staff, customers, donors, vendors, community agencies, etc. in a polite, courteous, and cooperative manner, yet appropriately assertive as situations may demand.
  • Display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently.
  • Ability to transport individuals as needed, and travel to various sites and locations.
  • Able to meet a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends and available on-call for emergencies by telephone and/or cell phone.


EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE
AND LICENSES

  • A minimum of 2 years wedding or event floral experience required
  • Computer literate; experienced with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Outlook, Internet, and Google Drive. Honeybook, Dropbox, and Shopify experience is a plus.
  • Valid Oklahoma driver’s license & proof of insurance
  • Floral design education or certification preferred


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, reach, kneel and squat. Individual will be regularly exposed to wet and or humid conditions and must be able to lift/move weight up to 40 lbs. Employee is also required to accept incoming calls. Must have the manual dexterity to manually operate and use a computer, cash register, pruning sheers, wire cutters, and automobile. The noise level is quiet to moderate; non-smoking environment.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee will work in a retail, service-delivery environment. Hectic situations can occur in the public area of the facility characteristic to working with the homeless community and the related concerns and situations related to homeless conditions. Potential exists for volatile and unpredictable situations to occur. This position is eligible for some hybrid work in the Oklahoma City metro area.
