Salary: $87,500 annually

POSITION OVERVIEW
HomeRise is seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Generalist to join our Human Resources team. The HR Generalist will play a key role in providing comprehensive HR support to employees and management, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance with all relevant labor laws. This position involves a broad range of HR functions, including employee relations, compliance, HR process improvements, workers’ compensation claims management, and Cal/OSHA reporting. Additionally, the HR Generalist will oversee the Employee Safety Management (ESM) function and ensure proper handling of workers' compensation cases through Insite, the agency’s secure portal for claims tracking and management.
Given that HomeRise operates in a unionized environment, this role requires experience working with unions, including administering collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) and handling grievance processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Workers’ Compensation and ESM Oversight
- Oversee the Employee Safety Management (ESM) process, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and incident reporting requirements.
- Manage workers’ compensation claims through Insite, the agency’s secure client management portal.
- Utilize Insite to track claims, monitor trends, and ensure timely resolution of cases.
- Centralize communication with claims adjusters, employees, and management regarding workers' compensation cases.
- Provide data-driven insights on claims trends and recommend strategies to reduce workplace injuries.
- Ensure accurate documentation of all workers' compensation claims and related communications.
- Partner with supervisors and managers to facilitate return-to-work programs and accommodations.
Employee Relations
- Serve as a liaison for employees and managers, providing guidance on HR policies and procedures.
- Review employee relations issues, ensuring proper documentation and consistent application of company policies.
- Handle union-related matters, including grievances, disciplinary actions, and adherence to the collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
- Conduct investigations related to employee concerns, grievances, and disciplinary matters in collaboration with HR Director, union field representative, shop stewards and CEO when required.
Cal/OSHA Reporting and Compliance
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of serious injuries, illnesses, and fatalities to Cal/OSHA, in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation and logs for workplace incidents and injuries as required by Cal/OSHA standards.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with facilities management and supervisors to implement corrective actions and prevent future incidents.
- Provide training and education to employees on workplace safety policies and Cal/OSHA regulations.
Compliance and Recordkeeping
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, EEO, FLSA).
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate employee records, including personnel files and HRIS data.
- Assist with audits and reporting related to HR metrics, payroll, benefits, and workplace safety.
HR Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve HR processes and procedures.
- Participate in the development and implementation of HR policies and initiatives.
- Support change management efforts and promote a positive workplace culture.

- Status: Full-Time / Exempt / On-Site
- Schedule: Generally, Monday through Friday 9 AM - 5 PM
- Reports to: Director of Human Resources
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: 3 years of experience as an HR Generalist or in a similar HR role.
- Experience working in a unionized environment is required, including administering CBAs, handling grievances, and collaborating with union representatives.
- Experience in workers’ compensation claims management, Cal/OSHA reporting, and employee safety programs is required.
- Experience in employee relations and benefits administration is preferred.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations, including Cal/OSHA standards.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and claims management platforms (e.g., Paycom, Insite).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Strong analytical skills for tracking and reporting HR, workers' compensation, and safety metrics.
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
