PROGRAM ASSISTANT
Our Saratoga Family Residence located in Jamaica Queens is searching for a Program Assistant. This position provides crucial assistance for program management by tracking all activities taking place in the program, and recommending appropriate improvements based on client feedback. The Program Assistant must be able to work with the different program directors and their staff. This is an excellent position for an initiative-taking, creative and organized admin looking for a meaningful workplace.
ABOUT HOMES FOR THE HOMELESS
Homes for the Homeless (HFH) is a non-profit social services organization operating family shelters throughout NYC that serve as a hub of opportunity for families both residing in shelter as well as those in the neighboring community. On-site programs range from childcare, early childhood education centers, afterschool clubs and programs, and youth recreation activities, such as sports teams, to housing assistance, case management, parenting workshops, career and job vocational training, support groups and substance abuse assistance, and family engagement and recreation events for the whole family.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate closely with the Director of the Early Child Education Center and the Director of Recreation
- Keep track of all activities, events, trips, and partnerships taking place in the programs.
- Manage all program media with the Central office.
- Coordinate volunteers for each program with the assistance of our Central office.
- Keep track and organize all donations.
- Identify different partnerships, events, and trips for each program.
- Research and provide literature regarding current trends for the age group for each program.
- Attend community events and meetings to promote the programs.
- Coordinate special events for the shelter residents.
- Obtain client feedback and recommend appropriate program improvements.
- Other duties as directed by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least one-year experience working in a related field.
- Knowledge of different computer programs
- Ability to create reports and surveys.
- Ability to network with outside community vendors.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
