Experienced Craftsman* - Specialty Department Technician

Homestead Cabinets is hiring for an Experienced Craftsman - Specialty Department Technician. We are looking for someone who is a craftsman with at least 5 years of skilled woodworking employment experience. This individual must possess time management skills and be experience in leading small groups of individuals.

The hours for this shift typically would be from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday with some overtime required. Wage range is $20 to $30 per hour, depending on previous work and leadership experience.

Job Description:

As a specialty technician, you will perform various tasks, including manufacturing, assembly, basic testing of products, and searching for ways to help improve the specialty department area and process.

Job Responsibilities:

• Read and follow work procedures and schematics or receive verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed
• Perform manufacturing/assembly operations and various tasks following Homestead procedures, work instructions, and process aid sheets
• Maintain daily production output
• Participate in quality control inspections and and check parts frequently
• Stack, sort, and apply stickers to parts
• Work with team lead, engineer, supervisors, and managers to improve quality and process efficiency
• Maintain a clean and organized area
• Assist in other departments when needed

Requirements:

• 5 years of employment experience working with various types of wood and cuts (furniture experience building a huge plus).
• Time management skills are essential
• Attention to detail is critically important
• Ability to operate hand tools and basic machinery (i.e. tablesaw, mitersaw, router, hand tools, power tools) is required
• Ability to adapt to changes in work schedule with ease
• Ability to communicate, receive, and understand complex instructions regarding duties to be performed
• Ability to read a tape measure
• Experience leading small groups of individuals is essential
• Adherence to good manufacturing principles
• Demonstrate eye for detail and quality-minded work habits
• Curiosity and a desire to learn

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to frequently move, lift, carry, push, or pull weight up to 50 lbs. unassisted and occasionally lift/move items greater than 50 lbs. with assistance
• Ability to continuously stand or walk for long periods of time
• Ability to work in a noisy environment
• Ability to work in a dusty environment
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders
• Frequently use fingers or hands to grasp, clamp, move, and handle objects
• Frequently squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, turn, pivot, and reach
