What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Child Care Teacher position at Hometown Childcare?
We are looking for a reliable and caring Assistant Teacher to encourage the healthy intellectual and psychological growth of the children in our facilities. You will teach and supervise them while motivating them to use their mental capacities and exercise their imagination.
Job requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:
*To assist the lead teacher in all classroom functions, implement lesson plans, tend to children’s needs, maintain room design, and adhere to health and safety procedures to take the role and position when the lead teacher is not present
*Ensuring professional development requirements are met, specifically 16 hours of training per year. Assist children with activities of daily life (restroom use, diapering, hand washing, feeding, etc.)
*Maintain a professional self-image and project the values of Hometown Childcare.
*Engage children in activities and play that stimulate their development
*Appropriately supervise children while keeping them safe at all times
*Creating and maintaining an environment that is clean, organized, and safe for all children
* Engage children in activities and play that stimulate their development *Approach parents daily and speak with them about their child(ren)- Establish a professional level of rapport with each family to provide quality care and friendly service
*Attend and engage in occasional parent participation events and other events that may be on nights and/or weekends
*Physical ability should be sufficient to frequently bend, stoop, sit on the floor, and lift up to 40 pounds.
*The openness to receive feedback on issues that will facilitate the growth and achievement of both students and teachers
*A passion for teaching children and watching them learn and grow
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalency
Be willing to submit to an extensive background check.
CPR certified, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogen Training
Be mentally and physically capable of caring for a large group of children alone in a classroom.
Assistant Caregivers must be at least 18 years of age and meet all child daycare licensing guidelines required by the state of Michigan.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: From $12.50 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
