Job Summary:
Provides pastoral care with a holistic approach for all residents.
Essential Functions:
- Models the organization’s stated core values.
- Treats all information about residents, their condition, and family as confidential information.
- Complies with established Corporate and Departmental policies and procedures and maintains established standards and practices.
- Conducts and coordinates worship services.
- Organizes and conducts Bible studies.
- Provides prayer and devotions.
- Provides on-going visits with residents and co-workers, including hospital visits.
- Provides support to Social Services, Therapeutic Recreation Director, and Wellness Director in meeting the holistic needs of the residents.
- Assists the Chaplain and/or pastor in preparing for and participating in funeral or memorial services for residents.
- Shares the comfort of Scriptures and prayer with residents, especially in times of personal need.
- Performs other functions as directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- In full agreement with Homewood’s purpose statement, mission statement, core values, and statement of faith.
- Ordained or licensed minister in good standing.
- Demonstrates agreement with Homewood’s Mission and Doctrinal Statement.
- Ability to listen to what the resident is feeling and saying.
- Sensitivity to the varying needs of each resident in times of illness, pain, and disability.
- Empathy with those who are lonely or troubled.
- Ability to serve as an advocate for residents, family members, and staff.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively and supportively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Minimum of five years of experience in pastoral ministry or chaplaincy.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and evaluate worship services and other religious activities.
- Self-starter with the initiative and creativity to develop new and effective religious programs.
- Clinical Pastoral Education training is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work requires extensive work using a computer. This position has physical and mental aspects of sedentary work in which lifting requirements are minimal. Occasionally required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or operate computers, objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
