The Assistant Director of Engineering is responsible for maintaining a safe, attractive, and fully operable property at a world-class resort. This role involves managing the physical plant, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation efforts while ensuring compliance with corporate standards and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities
- Leadership and Communication
- Supervise and train engineering staff to ensure operational excellence.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including corporate and on-property teams.
- Prepare and deliver reports on facility management, performance metrics, and compliance standards.
- Foster collaboration with other departments to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction.
- Operations and Maintenance
- Oversee the assessment, operation, and maintenance of building systems, interiors, exteriors, and grounds.
- Manage the maintenance contracting process, including writing specifications, selecting contractors, and monitoring their performance.
- Develop and implement maintenance policies, guidelines, and schedules to ensure optimal performance of all systems.
- Perform regular inspections of the property to identify and address areas for improvement.
- Quality Control and Compliance
- Ensure all work meets or exceeds established standards for safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency.
- Monitor compliance with codes, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Collect and analyze guest feedback and facility data to identify and implement process improvements.
- Project Management
- Plan and oversee renovation, construction, and maintenance projects.
- Define project scope, schedule, and budget; manage resources and timelines.
- Monitor and evaluate project outcomes to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Energy and Environmental Stewardship
- Lead efforts to reduce the property's environmental impact through energy conservation and waste management programs.
- Analyze and report utility consumption data, promoting sustainability initiatives.
- Stay updated on LEED certification standards and implement sustainable practices across operations.
- Emergency Preparedness
- Partner with the Safety and Security department to develop and test emergency response plans.
- Assist in designing and executing simulations or exercises to ensure preparedness for potential emergencies.
