What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Global Systems Engineering position at honeywell2-pilot?
Director, Global Systems Engineering
The Director of Systems Engineering will build and lead a
team which has primary ownership of the entire system architecture for each
offering. This team leads and
coordinates interdisciplinary engineering activities and deliverables for
complex programs. They create and manage
system engineering designs to support interface management; system performance,
reliability, and cost allocations; including use case and sequence diagrams and
network diagrams, mapping system requirements to physical and functional
architecture and conducting configuration management of system configurations.
In this role you will build a team to
Provide Technical Leadership for
Offerings
Provide thought leadership with Offering Management and with customers by clearly articulating our value proposition.
Actively engage with customers, sales, offering management, UX, channel partners, and domain experts to develop a deep understanding of the offering’s target customers, their priorities and pain points.
Competitive benchmarking
Establish an architectural roadmap which enables differentiated customer outcomes and defines product level performance and “ility” milestones aligned with the product platform roadmap and the Go-To-Market strategy (direct versus channel).
Own the platform alignment roadmap and ensure individual NPIs are aligned to the agreed upon platform strategy
Bring electrical, mechanical, embedded software, application development, data science, and systems engineering together to create a common vision with clearly defined interfaces between subsystems.
Provide New Product Development
Leadership
Develop system architecture and design concepts and requirements to address identified customer needs, translate customer needs into technical requirements. Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
Define and align all product and subsystem teams to an incremental ‘vertical slice’ development plan that delivers increasingly functional working increments.
Lead the design team in identifying opportunities for reuse and in designing components, modules and platforms for extensibility, scalability, and reuse
Support the direction and/or down-selection of design concepts with a system level view
Define system performance and “ility” requirements and optimize cost, schedule, and risk through allocation of overall performance goals. Work directly with individual product design owners across the company to perform system architecture trade studies and allocate system level requirements
Drive simulation, modeling, analysis, and data collection at the system level
Align architecture with DevSecOps roadmap and strategy
Identify and retire critical technical risks by leading system level FMEAs, driving mitigation actions, and working across subsystem owners to drive subsystem level risk mitigation.
Review overall Test Strategy and Test Plans (Application, System Integration, System, Software & Manufacturing Testing) and ensure adequate Product Test Coverage. Identify and support the test and integration activities required to verify and validate the system against customer application requirements.
Provide Sustaining
Leadership
Lead Problem Solving and RCAs by working with responsible engineers from multiple disciplines to solve complex customer application and cross domain issues.
Maintain Traceability leveraging tools
Work with Offering Management to define and manage the product lifecycle including backward and forward compatibility requirements. Coordinate sunsetting activities aligned to the end of sale, and end of support timelines.
Ensure roadmaps align to evolving regulatory requirements globally.
