This is an outstanding opportunity for an engineer who will develop products in the areas of optical systems and atmospheric sensing. Honeywell’s High Altitude Lidar Atmospheric Sensor (HALAS) uses optical systems to make accurate, real time weather observations from the ground up to many thousands of feet in altitude. HALAS relies on a high-power UV laser directed into the atmosphere. It observes backscattered light with a powerful telescope to measure wind speed, humidity, density, temperature and other atmospheric parameters.
This role will serve as the lead hardware engineer for the HALAS system. In this role you will be responsible for key areas of electrical and mechanical development of this exciting new product, including actuation systems, laser cooling systems, PLC and other controls and power systems
