Honkamp Payroll is a growing payroll service bureau providing complete Human Capital Management & payroll services to small businesses using the UKG Ready platform.  We are looking for Human Resources professionals that enjoy a fast-paced environment and working with multiple clients in various states.  Offices are located in Dubuque and Coralville, Iowa which allows for flexibility on the work location.   Come join a growing team!

Summary:  Provides administrative support to the HR Consulting group.  This position is vital to the continued growth of the company to ensure high quality customer service. 

Essential Duties:  Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required. Position may also be responsible for the duties listed in the preceding level(s) position description.

  • Accurately processes paperwork, employee, payroll & benefit changes received from clients following Company procedures within 2 business days of receipt.
  • Performs customer service functions by answering customer requests and questions.
  • Accurately tracks time spent working on each client for billing.
  • Assists with I-9 and Employee Records reviews for clients in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Reconciles and Audits client benefits invoices quarterly.
  • Accurately completes data entry on client spreadsheets or other systems.
  • Assists with mass mailings and compliance on behalf of clients.
  • Assists with writing and developing client job descriptions, client policies and client procedures.
  • Assists with new hire orientations for clients.
  • Schedules meetings as requested by HR Administrators.
  • Files or scans documents and performs other clerical functions.
  • Works with honesty, integrity, ethically, and accurately to provide excellent customer service.
  • Work toward continuous quality improvement.
  • Stay current with changing technology, including software programs.
  • Uphold, support, and promote all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, the position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills and ability required. 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to listen and understand instructions given verbally.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to use Excel effectively.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Standing – Approximately less than 1/3 of on-the-job time.
  • Walking – Approximately less than 1/3 of on-the-job time.
  • Sitting – Approximately greater than 2/3 of on-the-job time.
  • Use of hands to finger, handle or feel – Approximately greater than 2/3 of on-the-job time.
  • Reaching with hands and arms – Approximately greater than 2/3 of on-the-job time.
  • Stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling – Approximately less than 1/3 of on-the-job time.
  • Talking or hearing – Approximately between 1/3 and 2/3 of on-the-job time.
  • Weight lifted/Force exerted – An average of approximately up to 10 pounds, non-continuously.
  • Vision – Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
  • Travel/Driving – May occasionally be required to attend client meetings, offsite training/seminars and other work-related events.  May require use of personal vehicle.

  • Environmental – Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Noise – Moderate (i.e. computers, printers, fax machines, etc.).
  • Temperature controlled office environment.
