What are the responsibilities and job description for the Honolulu Zoo Twilight Tour Guide position at Honolulu Zoological Society?
The Honolulu Zoo Society is looking for enthusiastic people who deeply respect animals and conservation to help lead our Twilight Tours on Saturday evenings. Guides oversee groups of up to 15 visitors as they navigate a designated path through the Honolulu Zoo. As they travel along the route, the Guide is responsible for familiarizing visitors with the zoo’s distinctive animal inhabitants, sharing personal anecdotes and interesting facts about each species. These encounters are enhanced by providing visitors with an understanding of the threats these species face in their natural habitats and the actions individuals can take to conserve and protect them. Upon acquiring a comprehensive knowledge of the zoo's animals and operational procedures, individuals will be promoted to lead guides and entrusted with the responsibility of leading their tours.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong public speaker.
- Customer-service oriented.
- Reliable and on-time.
- Able to work evenings on weekends.
- Comfortable working a variety of weather conditions and be able to spend roughly two hours walking through the zoo.
- Able to remain composed and follow safety procedures in the event of an emergency.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 3 – 4 per week
