Human Resources Generalist

Purpose of the Position:

Assist in optimizing organization performance by facilitating and supporting the highest standards of team member recruitment, selection, orientation and retention; promoting a fair, respectful, inclusive and challenging workplace culture; and administration of systems for training and continued development, reward and recognition, policies and practices, communication benefits & payroll, performance management, administrative compliance, reporting and record keeping at a facility level.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Actively support the Honor Foods (OneBurris Culture) on a daily basis
• Interact in a cooperative and professional manner with other team members, supervisors, customers and vendors even in difficult situations
• Promote exceptional (WOW) Customer Service by building and maintaining effective communication with team members and internal and external vendors and customers
• Administer recruitment and selection processes to ensure in hiring of high caliber team members
• Assisting in training and coaching hiring teams and hiring panels
• Source candidates for open and pipeline positions (maintain applicant tracking system)
• Proactively and consistently recruit to maintain a pipeline of viable
• Manage new hire process including: ○ Background Checks ○ Employment verifications (as required) ○ License verification (as required) ○ Physicals ○ Any position specific pre-employment process
• Follow up with new hires after 1-2 weeks, then after 30/60/90 days
• Knowledge of all internal Human Resource related policies, practices, and systems to ensure legal and good business practice compliance
• Manage bi-weekly payroll process. This process includes reviewing timecards, providing payroll updates and ensuring that all employees are paid accurately. ○ Stay up to date with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations and ensure compliance in all payroll activities
• Scan and electronically file all human resources related documents in a timely manner
• Interact effectively and in a positive manner with team members
• Assure fairness and consistency
• Recommend and administer recognition programs, announcements and awards for outstanding performance
• Other duties as assigned
  

Requirements:

• BA degree in Human Resources or related field
• 2-3 years of practical experience in Human Resources, preferably in a distribution environment
• Ability to work onsite

• Strong written and oral communication and organizational skills
• Excellent computer skills
• Ability to remain calm and focused while prioritizing requests from multiple sources
• Ability to maintain and ensure confidentiality of team member and company information
• Strong communications skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to effectively promote Burris culture and think strategically
• Highly organized, proactive, goal-oriented and approachable
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Knowledge of Human Resources and Payroll computer software and applications (experience with Ceridian Dayforce is a plus)
