What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacist position at HonorVet Technologies?
1) Independently prepares, compounds, preserves, and dispenses drugs, medicines, and therapeutic devices on the basis of prescriptions, medication orders, or other legal authority in accordance with ARTICLE 37 of Education Law.
-Receives, evaluates, compounds, and dispenses prescriptions for individuals in STATE facilities and programs.
-Reviews prescription orders in conjunction with individual information and records; verifies the accuracy of drug, dosage,
and quantity prescribed; and determines suitability based on individual's history and other medications.
-Advises physicians and other health care providers about incompatible orders/prescriptions, contraindications, adverse
side effects and interactions, therapeutic duplication, and other potential issues; and recommends alternatives.
-Re-packages, and dispenses medications and other pharmaceuticals, which may include bulk quantities for distribution
and administration to individuals in various facilities or programs.
-Monitors and Maintains and updates pharmacy records and drug information systems, consistent with state and federal
laws, rules and regulations and requirements.
2) Provides coverage when pharmacists are off.
3) Maintains safe and effective operations in the pharmacy department.
4) Performs other related functions under the supervision and guidance of the Pharmacy Director.
5) Possess a valid degree and New York State license in good standing.
* Facility orientation, trainings, background State Central Registry check, finger printing, and other HR related/facility based screenings.
*Medical clearance required.
