Under the supervision of the Chair of the Department of Art & Archaeology, the Studio Arts Studio Manager assists undergraduate and graduate students, adjunct and full-time faculty with day-to-day departmental operations and provides for a safe and well-equipped environment in all instructional areas of the studio arts programs.
The Studio Arts Studio Manager is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the studio spaces and facilities used by the Studio Arts programs including the BA Studio Art concentration, the BA Art Education concentration, the BA Art Therapy concentration, the minors in Studio Art and Graphic Design, and the Graduate programs in Ceramic Arts. The Studio Manager facilitates and promotes the educational and safety needs of faculty, students, and the general public in connection with the studio art offerings of the college and maintains a financial record of income and expenses within the departmental budget.
Other responsibilities include administrative tasks associated with managing the studio arts spaces and supplies, and providing various forms of administrative support for departmental programs.

Education and / or Experience
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in studio arts or related field, and a minimum of 2 years of art studio management experience in college / instructional environments or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Thorough understanding of best studio arts practices across various media and current safety standards and requirements is necessary.
Preferred Skills and Characteristics
Proficient in software such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Blackboard, Quicken, Adobe Creative Suite, internet applications, and current social media platforms. Experienced with financial and administrative processes within an educational / not-for-profit environment.
Language Skills
Exceptional language and written communication skills. Ability to effectively provide information and positively respond to questions from both external and internal customer inquiries in person, via email, and by telephone. Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Able to write and interpret training materials, marketing materials, reports, and correspondence. Capable of speaking effectively before groups of students, faculty, staff, and other constituents.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with and apply basic mathematical concepts in a timely and accurate manner, either manually or by using a calculator. Ability to use financial software applications and generate budgetary data for monitoring expenses and preparing annual reports.
Reasoning Ability
Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Able to hypothesize, draw conclusions, and support conclusions. Able to work in the theoretical arena and apply logic as appropriate.
Compensation
This is a position with an annual starting salary range of $34,000 to $38,000 depending on circumstances including an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, training, and other relevant factors. Hood College has provided a compensation range representing its good faith estimate of what the College may pay for the position at the time of posting. The College may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range.
