Definition
To provide clerical and technical auditing services involving the reporting of financial transactions for the operations and activities of the county offices.
Examples of Important Responsibilities and Duties—important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential duties and responsibilities:
· Maintain, analyze, and reconcile a variety of reports and spreadsheets; examine accounting transactions to ensure accuracy.
· Monitor and assist with balancing various accounts; research and analyze transactions.
Other important duties and responsibilities:
· Prepare various mailings in support of an assigned department.
· Check monthly reports; verify against cash receipts, books, and bank statements.
· Assist in all aspects of performing annual financial reviews of County Departments.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge of:
· Principles and procedures of record keeping.
· Modern office methods, practices, procedures, and equipment.
· Accounting principles, procedures, and their application to a variety of accounting transactions and problems.
· English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
· Various computer software packages, Excel, Word, and Tyler.
· Financial research and report preparation methods and techniques.
· Pertinent federal, state and local laws, regulations and codes including laws regulating public finance and fiscal operations.
Ability to:
· Apply federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to accounting and auditing work.
· Analyze and interpret financial and accounting records.
· Examine and verify a wide variety of financial documents and reports.
· Conduct sound audits of financial records.
· Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
· Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
· Maintain mental capacity, which permits:
o Making sound decisions.
o Working with numbers.
o Effective interaction and communication with others.
· Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:
o Making observations.
o Reading and writing.
o Operating assigned equipment.
o Communicating with others.

Experience and Training Guidelines:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience:
- At least five years of clerical office experience.
- At least five years of technical accounting experience preferred.
Training:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Advanced coursework in accounting/bookkeeping highly recommended.

Environmental Conditions:
Office environment; exposure to computer screens.
Physical Conditions:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may require maintaining a physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods of time.
