Description
The Fleet Manager position presents an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role at Hood Industries. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for managing and directing all aspects of fleet vehicles and rolling stock, from assisting in financial decisions at the beginning of the transaction, overseeing and supervising fleet maintenance during the equipment’s operational life, and providing recommendations for replacement and disposals at the end of the asset’s useful life. The Fleet Manager will play an essential role in the success of our business by ensuring we are utilizing our fleet at an optimal level, that we are cost effective and satisfy all legal and regulatory requirements.
Position Responsibilities:
· Establish and monitor purchasing, operational and replacement fleet strategies, and practices to ensure a cost-effective operation.
· Manage maintenance, warranty agreements, and ensure agreements are beneficial and fully utilized.
· Supervise and track scheduled and recommended maintenance of fleet to ensure all fleet assets are properly cared for and maintained.
· Evaluate and analyze capital and lease expenditures for forecasting, planning, and budgeting purposes.
· Works with Branch / Mill managers to determine the need for new equipment.
· Foster, maintain and expand relationships with suppliers, to ensure an efficient and reliable supply chain.
· Establish and execute robust order to deliver processes, ensuring seamless tracking and efficient coordination across departments.
· Manage the registration process for all fleet vehicles.
· Manage the AFE approval process for all fleet related equipment.
· Work with the accounting team to determine lease versus purchase opportunities.
· Work with the Corporate Financial Reporting Manager to ensure all documentation is complete.
· Manage compliance within each of the different states in which Hood operates.
· Analyze fleet performance data and KPI’s and improve accordingly.
Requirements:
· Minimum 5 years of job-related experience with Fleet Management experience.
· Minimum 5 years mechanical and technical experience with heavy equipment and rolling stock.
· Bachelor’s degree Business, Accounting, Logistics, or related field preferred.
· Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and other analytical tools.
· Must be able to read, comprehend, interpret, and analyze moderately complex financial and business documents.
· High attention to detail and the ability to flourish in a multi-tasked environment.
· Analytical approach to problem solving, strategic mind-set and ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
