What are the responsibilities and job description for the Strapping Operator position at Hood Lumber?
Responsibilities:
- Commitment to working safely and following safety rules/procedures.
- Operates strapping machine from a touch screen.
- Prints lumber tickets and attaches them to the lumber pack.
- Reads measurements for proper band placement.
- Replaces strapping rolls on machine.
- Performs weekly/daily maintenance and preventive maintenance.
- Performs general housekeeping on machine and working area.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma/GED preferred.
- 1-2 years of manufacturing experience.
- Ability to understand, clearly communicate, and follow all safety rules and policies.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to make decisions quickly utilizing hand, eye, and foot coordination.
- Able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
Physical Requirements:
- Performs tasks such as walking, climbing steps/ladders, sitting, and standing for long periods.
- Able to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs.
- Ability to work outside in all conditions, in and around loud equipment.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. throughout the work shift.
