Requirements:
- Must be a Hood River County Resident
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must have a valid drivers license
- Must be able to pass background check
- Must be able to pass drug screening
- The fairgrounds manager is responsible for all aspects of administering, managing and the operation of the fairgrounds. The office shall be staffed 3 days and 15 hours a week (this will vary and could be more or less depending on the time of year), will be every day in the summer months till after fair, and the manager will be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergencies. The manager will determine the scheduled hours.
- The manager will perform his/her duties according to policies set forth by the Fair Board. The manager will seek the input and support of the board to meet the goals of the Fair Board.
- The manager will be responsible for scheduling events on the fairgrounds year-round, more specifically charging and collecting fees for rental of facilities or property used on or off the grounds.
- The manager will be responsible for the financial records of the fairgrounds and will report to the Board monthly the results of operation and activities. The manager will develop and present monthly and annual projections of budgets, activities scheduled for the grounds (calendar of events) and will provide a list of work accomplishments and plans for the coming months. The manager will present an up-to-date treasurer’s report at each regularly scheduled meeting. pay all bills that are approved at meetings.
- The manager will be responsible for all the hiring and termination of employees. Experience in management or supervision is expected. This should include but not be limited to, H.R protocols, labor compliance, and laws.
- The manager will be responsible for the safety of the grounds, keeping all employees and the grounds safe. This includes knowledge of OSHA updates and compliance as well as Oregon SAIF policies and procedures.
- The manager will act as a representative of the Fair Board to external organizations, both professional and governmental. The manager will attend all meetings regarding the fairgrounds. (OFA meetings, conventions, county commissioners, etc.)
- The manager oversees securing advertising, sponsors, security, judges, and vendors, entertainment, and volunteers for the fair and other Fair board sponsored events.
- It is the manager's responsibility to keep the grounds, facilities and equipment in attractive and usable condition.
- The Manager is responsible for carrying out all policies for board members and employees, and updating annually all MOUs with local agencies, and board members.
