The Position:
We are seeking a creative production manager with a strong focus on creative leadership, art direction, and concept development to join our team. This role is central to shaping the creative identity of Hooker Furnishings family of brands by driving exceptional cross-platform campaigns, developing compelling narratives, and ensuring seamless execution. You will work behind the scenes with the creative and marketing teams, managing everything from file organization to photoshoot coordination and catalog development.
Responsibilities:
Art Direction & Visual Design:
- Lead the creation of stunning, visually consistent designs across photography, digital channels and printed catalogs, ensuring alignment with brand standards.
- Develop mood boards, style guides, and creative briefs to align teams with visual storytelling.
- Collaborate with designers, copywriters, and external agencies to deliver world-class creative work.
- Lead on-location and studio shoots, ensuring all elements align with the brand vision and campaign objectives.
- Provide art direction for styling, set design, photography, and video, including oversight of CGI imagery
END TO END PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT
- Manage relationship with photography and catalog vendors, including regular business reviews to drive process improvements.
- Develop creative briefs for upcoming campaigns and work with graphic designers (both internal and freelance) to create layouts for marketing materials, including catalogs, magazines, eblasts, and printed materials.
- Collaborate with merchants and showroom designers to create detailed shot lists for photoshoots and catalog development, ensuring all product information is accurate. Work closely with CMO & VP of marketing to determine art direction and set design for photoshoots, ensuring alignment with brand expectations.
- Manage the flow of imagery and assets from the studio for retouching, color correction, and final delivery, partnering with marketing and cross-functional teams.
Project Management for Production
- Utilize Wrike software to manage projects based on print production timelines and vendor production capacity.
- Handle scheduling and communication with cross-functional teams for timely and accurate delivery, with an emphasis on key initiatives, launches and regional and international markets.
- Analyze data to proactively address strategic business opportunities to drive process improvements, increase efficiency, and reduce costs.
- Track, manage, and report all production costs including labor, materials, shipping, photography, and inventory storage maintenance.
What you bring to the role:
- Certification, or 5 years of on-the-job experience equivalence. Production design experience preferred. Degree in relevant field is preferred but not required.
- Strong business acumen with exceptional strategic thinking, analytical, project management skills, including a bias for action
- Organized, self-starter who excels at prioritizing and planning multi-stakeholder initiatives and competing priorities.
- Comfort working in an environment that is experiencing transformation and growth.
- Proven ability to manage multiple competing projects in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to create effective relationships, influence, and collaborate at all organizational levels.
- Comprehensive understanding of the production process.
- Proven track record partnering with designers, agencies, and vendors.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Examples of proactive problem-solving, both technically and creatively.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and various project management tools; Experience in Wrike, a plus.
- Basic proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator or InDesign) for minor file adjustments.
