JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Office Aide
REPORTS TO: Principal or Principal’s Designee
JOB GOAL: To serve as an aide to the principal and to perform other clerical duties as assigned for the office
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working in a fast-paced office setting
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Competent computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office and email
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups
- Ability to meet suitability criteria under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as state, federal, and local law and the Board may require
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, mission, and goal
- Greets and assists students, parents, volunteers, and visitors
- Answers incoming calls and directs as appropriate
- Processes all incoming and outgoing mail
- Types, files, creates, duplicates, collates, and distributes materials as needed
- Assists in maintaining office equipment and supplies
- Manage daily and monthly attendance records, including truancy records and letters
- Assists in informing parents, administrators, and District of potential attendance problems
- Assists in creating, updating, monitoring, and maintaining student records, including progress reports and report cards
- Assists with treating student illnesses and student accidents as needed
- Assists with the collection/sharing of enrollment and withdrawal information
- Maintains confidentiality of all school-related business
- Engages in continuous learning
- Adheres to local Board policies, administrative procedures, and other like directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s)
